12/19/07 There was an error in the number of bind off stitches at the back of the hat for size M. The correct number is 14 not 20. The pattern has been corrected.
Thanks for all of your nice comments about my new hats. The Thorpe Pattern is now up as a freebie
in the side bar. You can also download it here:
Consider this pattern my holiday gift to you for your kind words this past year. It has been a difficult year that I will be happy to see end. But it has also been a year full of new friendships, thoughtful support and constant inspiration. Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday season and a new year full of peace, love, joy and of course knitting!!
Just to prove that Thorpe isn't just pretty, here's proof that it's a working hat too!
Yes, DD# 2 is wearing her brother's boots. The scary thing is, they almost fit. The girl's got some skinny legs and big old feet!
DD#1 was happy to help with the tree.
DD#2? Nope, not so much.
Thank you so much! I can't wait to make one or 4!

A good take-along WIP is exactly what I needed at an event last night AND DID NOT HAVE! To prevent a repeat of that scenario, I think I'll cast on a Thorpe today. Thanks!

I always love the pics of your girls- that hair! My oldest has that long wavy hair too. Oh, the days when I could wear mine that way.
Love your patterns.

I'll casually leave it near my hat-making-fiend-of-a-daughter since I laughed when she said she was starting her sweater again. The hats are her thing. Another lovely patter - thanks!

Woohoo! Thanks for the hat pattern! I am always on the lookout for a cool earflap hat.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write up this great earflap hat pattern....I just cast on 2 of them. One in gray Panache and one in a multi colored thick/thin yarn! Loving them both!

I love these hats -- I'll be casting on for myself as soon as I get my Christmas knitting done!
You'll be in my thoughts this holiday season. The first one without Dad is going to be tough. Hang in there.

I can vouch for how wonderful the multicolored version of the hat looks in person - I'm the person who outed you at Purl earlier today ! It seems so random - I saw your blog for the first time last night and I'd never been to Purl before today, either. I hope I didn't freak you out, it is weird when a blog reader becomes 3D. Thanks for sharing the pattern.
