The Charles Collection

It was a little over a year ago that Amy Herzog, Elinor Brown and I started talking about creating a collection of patterns together. I had been a fan of both of theirs for awhile, and we all agreed that each of our design aesthetics, although slightly different, would work nicely together. We named our collaboration BHK Cooperative for Brown, Herzog & Kapur.

It was a joy to work with these two talented women from very start. For our first collection we quickly agreed on Boston as inspiration and named it The Charles Collection. We shared sketches of concepts and brainstormed over yarn selections and a color story. Then we each set to work writing patterns and knitting samples. The result is 10 patterns with a little something for everyone. There are accessories - hats, mittens, a shawl and a wrap along with cardigans and pullovers. The collection has cables, lace and pieces worked mostly in stockinette embellished with little details that make knitting so much fun. We all strongly believe in offering a large range of sizes so all of the garments are written for 10 sizes.

We enlisted the help of some very talented people for The Charles Collection. Caro Sheridan's amazing photography skills captured our designs on location in Boston. Beautiful yarns were donated by some of our favorite yarn companies; Alisha Goes Around, Berroco Yarns, Blue Sky Alpacas, Lorna’s Laces, Madelinetosh, Malabrigo Yarns, The Plucky Knitter, Shelridge Farm, and The Woolen Rabbit. Finally, Jenn Jarvis's tech editing skills ensured that our patterns would be the best they can be.

I hope you like the collection as much as we do. If you do please join us on Facebook, Ravelry & Twitter. There's already at least one KAL started in the Ravelry group.

And now my favorite part. A look at the designs. I've included Ravelry links under each photo. You will find all of the specs there.

what a fun and excellent idea! I love the patterns. And I'm sure it was amazing to work with Elinor and Amy, who are lovely and great designers. Is that Izzy or Sofie modeling? I'm used to seeing IJK wearing glasses, so I'm stumped! I like the new hair color, though :)

beautiful.

Sigh. The temptations... you evil person. So many beautiful patterns...

Down on the Christmas list it goes!

The patterns are all wonderful and you all should be so proud of this! I've queued up several already and will be buying the entire collections. Congratulations!

Congrats on creating such a great collection. Everything looks very wearable and chic!

So excited for all of you -- a wonderful collaboration. The Charles Collection is lovely! Congratulations!!

Congratulations on a beautiful collaboration! It's so nice to see such great independent designers working together to make such a beautiful collection.

Gorgeous! Congratulations! :)

Gorgeous! I went ahead and set up a post to show the Malabrigo sweater off (and link to the pattern collection) on our blog, it should show up tomorrow.

So wonderful! Congratulations to you!

Congrats on a beautiful collection! I have one question: what brand or where can I purchase the boots your daughter is wearing?

Well, I'm not supposed to be buying more patterns. But I don't think I promised not to give people strong suggestions for Christmas gifts! So beautiful, every one. I'm particularly taken with New Towne and North End.

Wow it's really looks awesome and the pattern shared over here really looks beautiful and the material they have used very good one..
