I've got two new patterns in the latest issue of St Denis Magazine, the Bird Mittens and Hat (Ravelry Link). I designed them just about a year ago, inspired by the swallows building a nest in the eaves of my front porch.
As I type this those same birds are maddly working, building this year's nest in the same spot. When we walk out the door they let us know we are not welcome by swooping over our heads complaining loudly.
I only have photos of the hat to show you, but you can see photos of the mittens in the magazine, on the St Denis Website and on Ravlery.
The yarn is St Denis Nordique in Chalk Blue, Eggplant & Champagne. I used US 2 needles.
Thanks for your comments on the baby blanket in my last post. As promised, here's a finished photo of my second Abby's Blanket. I used scraps of Karabella Aurora 6 & Aurora 8 that have been in my stash for years. The last few colors took about 2 balls each. The pattern should be ready in about a month.

I love the hat. I'm not sure I can wait a month on that baby blanket pattern, though. There's a baby I want to knit it for and he/she will be here before then!

I've come to love barn swallows. They swoop over our lake and eat the mosquitoes. I've lived on our lake for almost seven years, and not had a mosquito bite yet.
The cats would like me to mention how entertaining the swallows are, too.

This is the first year the swallows are not nesting over our front door. I have such a love hate relationship with their choice of residence. I have a much nicer reaction to have your swallows over my head.

Your new patterns are fabulous, as always. I love, love, love the birds and the designer lineup for St. Denis looks very impressive.
And what an adorable blanket. One of my good friends is expecting, so maybe her youngster will get one.
I hope someday my designs are up to your level :)

I love that your daughters inspire you to design with jewel colors. Purple is my favorite. I think I saw you at Vogue Knitting Live but felt shy about asking. Too bad. It would have been nice to ask about your design process. And your talented children.
