When I Was Her Age I Earned My Money Babysitting
A number of months ago we were approached to have Sofie work on a soundtrack that will accompany a book to be released next June. This project has been an amazing experience for her. Through it she has worked as a professional with experienced sound engineers, music directors and a number of talented musicians. The kids' band, Blame the Patient was also asked to write a few original songs for the soundtrack, the first of which is featured in the video.
The promotional video below gives a glimpse of the project.

That is so cool! The preview was really cool. Looks like it'll be an interesting book. At the very least, it'll be an awesome soundtrack!

Wow, I am in awe! I was babysitting at that age and then got a job at the mall when I turned 16. You and your husband must be extremely supportive parents. I plan on letting Melody try as many things as she likes and to really nurture any skills or talents that she may have.

One more voice in the how-cool-is-THAT chorus! You know, it makes me feel so good about the future when there are kids out there -- at such tender ages -- doing such great things; and doing them with maturity, passion, and skill! Wow! :-)

Kirsten, this is so cool! Sophie sounds great and speaks so articulately about the music she loves. You get a lot of credit for enabling her and her siblings to pursue their dreams (somebody has to drive them to all those performances, right?).

Oh, my gosh! I've had this bookmarked all week, and I'm finally just getting around to listening. This is so great! Now if they can feature your knitted items in the film, THAT would be a homerun... :)

This sort of blows my mind a little but, Kirsten. Your kids are so amazing. I wish you could write up a child-rearing manual for me (as instructive as your patterns, if you please), to tell me what to do to raise such creative, hip, and seemingly, likeable kids. Thank you for sharing this!

I kept coming across this at work where I couldn't play the video, and finally had a chance to watch it here at home - Floored. Your kids are so talented Kirsten, and it it so fun to watch you foster their strengths and creativity. And, I SO enjoyed this music!! Rock on Sofie!
