Atlantis

I'd like to thank everyone for their kind responses to my last post. Many of you have made contributions for Alzheimer's & Dementia research and we are very close to my goal of $5000 by my father's birthday.

My dad's 80th birthday would have been tomorrow. My mom is scheduled to arrive this evening for a visit.  We plan to spend tomorrow remembering him and celebrating his life.  It will be good to have my mother to share the day with.  I've really missed having her nearby since she moved to North Carolina over 2 years ago.

Originally designed for the Yarn4Socks Sock club, my Atlantis sock pattern is now available to the public.

Atlantis Front

These socks are worked from the top down on two circular needles.  The broken rib pattern at the cuff continues down the back and heel of the socks.  The front is adorned with a pattern of waves which cascade down from a point at the top of the leg.

Atlantis Side

A sock discussion thread has been started in the Through the Loops group on Ravelry.  If you make this sock or any of my other sock patterns you are welcome to join in, ask questions, and post photos of your projects.  We'd love to have you stop by.

Wow, this is magnificent! Possibly your best sock pattern yet, or certainly one of the best.

I hope you and M. are having a great time :)

Great pattern, so intricate. Right into the queue with Atlantis! I need to scan a family portrait of my parents which features guess which fabulous vest?! He loves it Kirsten and would wear it every day if he could.

If your dad were around right now he'd be marveling at his very talented daughter! Enjoy your visit with your mom:)

I sent my donation today I hope it gets there in time for your goal for your father's birthday!

Beautiful pattern! I love it!

I hope you don't mind but I posted a little bit about your efforts to collect donations for Alzheimers on my blog. Hopefully you'll reach your goal in a few hours since you're located in the east coast. I made my donation, I'm praying a few more do the same.
I really like the new sock design. I wish I could knit socks but alas, it's a lost cause with me. I have to give it a good try someday.
Good luck!

Beautiful, beautiful pattern! Definitely one of my favorites!

You and your family are in my thoughts today. xx

kirsten, congratulations on making it past $5000! What a great tribute on what would've been your father's 80th birthday. I hope you have a great visit with your mom. xoxo

Oh my!! Why is it that I'm so intimidated by socks? Your patterns are so very yummy and I know they're within my abilities, so why is it that I never seem to get one cast on.

I'm buying this one, joining the rav group, packing the pattern and yarn up and taking it with me on vacation! We will see how far I get Wish me luck, pretty please!

Beautiful, beautiful sock pattern. Muuuuuust buy it!

You should be very proud of the amount of money you raised! That's great! I hope you have a wonderful visit with your mom, as you remember and celebrate your dad. I love the sock pattern!!

Lovely, lovely pattern. It's going in my queue.

What a beautiful sock pattern! What a beautiful way to honor your father. I hope you had a lovely visit with your mom.
