Thorpe Revisited
Ever since Jared posted his I've wanted to make a handspun Thorpe. I finally got around to it this weekend.
What started as this:
Became this:
Handspun Thorpe
Pattern: My own - it's a freebie in my pattern store.
Size: Large - My yarn was more of an aran weight than bulky so I knit size large which worked out perfectly.
Main Color Yarn: My handspun
Fiber: 100% Merion from Funky Carolina
Colorway: Gravel Redux
Contrast Yarn: Something brown in the stash that has long since been relieved of its label.
Mods, etc.
I was so happily knitting this one that I made the crown a little deep. Rather than rip back, I made the garter edge two rounds shallower in the front. Everything else is knit to the instructions for the large size.
The kids wanted extra long braids, so that's what they got.

Looks fantastic! one of my all time favorite hat patterns, by the way!

Just the first picture of the yarn got a gasp out of me. The hat is great and I love the long braids, what fun!

I, too, have been thinking of a handspun thorpe. Yours is great, and the jacket is pretty nifty, too.

Love this one especially! And I am almost done with the Dr. G's back--size XL really can take the wind out of a knitter's sales, you know?? But I love this pattern, so easy to memorize and a gorgeous result...

Big fan of the Thorpe! I've just made 2, each took 1 night! I can't wait to see them on my nieces! But first, I have about 4 more to make. Thanks for such a fantastic pattern :)
