Achillea and Anna's Socks

How do you like my new front door?  (Please ignore the drop cloth and painter's tape, we are a work in progress.)

Door

My painter thinks I am a bit crazy choosing such a bright color.
But I think it is just right for photographing socks. . .

The patterns for Achillea (left) and Anna's Socks (right) are ready.  You can purchase them below or from the Plucky Knitter.  They are knit with her fabulous yarns.  Have I said enough good things about these yarns?  I'm not sure if that's possible.  They are lovely and soft, they don't pool, and Sarah has a fantastic eye for color.  She's been adding a lot of new colors to her etsy store lately, so get over there and check them out.

The stitch pattern in Ann's Sock reminds me of the tufted back on my grandmother's cobalt blue couch.  I have fond memories of  holidays at my grandparents' home with delicious scents wafting from the kitchen.  I have named this sock in honor of my late grandmother Anna.

I was struggling to think of a name for this sock, until Teresa commented on last week's post.  She said of this sock, "It kind of reminds me of a yarrow stalk with all it's leaves."  This awoke the gardener in me.  You see, the botanical name for yarrow is "Achillea".  It is named for Achilles of Greek myth; magnificent warrior, hero of Troy.  I'm sure you've all heard the story, his only vulnerability was his heel, and this eventually led to his demise.  I thought this would be the perfect name for a sock.  And so, Achillea it is, the flower or the hero, your choice.

Thank you for all of your kind feedback on these socks.  As with all of my patterns, if you knit either of these socks, I would love to see photos!

I love your front door - it's my favorite color!

I LUV the door color. It looks wonderful with the chocolate brown of your house. What does the painter know? :-)

I *LOVE* your front door!!!! That color is one of my favorites!!! It looks great!

Nice patterns as well. I love the Achillea. I might have to pick that one up!!!

The front door looks great but I'd have liked to have seen the set up for that sock photo. :-)

This is gorgeous! Is it cuff down??

I like the door!

Is Anna cuff down or toe up? She's purty.

Love the front door, such a fantastic color for every season. I love that you coaxed your tween girl to model like that--you know, with the threat of people driving by and the utter humiliation of it all!

I LOVE your door color! Very welcoming indeed!

i love the bright green door and the way it pops against the white trim and brown (?) of your house! good choice!

Love Love Love the door!

I am very much hearting the door and the delicious socks! Beauties both!

I love the color--and the socks!

Great door! Love, love, love the socks!

Your front door and socks are fantastic!

Ignore the painter, the man has no taste :-)
It looks cheer and bright, a nice welcome to a home !

The front door is awesome! I love front doors that just "pop".

The angel of the shots does provoke many questions :)

That is angle of the shots...geeze.

oh my gosh, i LOVE your new front door!!!!
and with the chocolate brown...gorgeous!!!
great socks! and i love your new header!

Love that front door color!!!!!! The socks are pretty darn great too!

What an awesome door! Such character.
I actually think it adds a lot of personality to your house and makes it more approachable. The socks are great too. I love the name ;D. I had no idea that Achellia is the botanical name for yarrow. That's great. I just remember all those yarrow plants that used to grow around my house and how pretty they were. I used to pick plain wild flowers and use yarrow as a "babies breath" in the bouquet and dry them out. :D I love the socks. I don't think I can say that enough!

I love the colour of your new door! and the socks are just stunning.

Thanks for the patterns - I'm going for Anna first (though worry not, Achillea, you will soon be logged on my credit card bill as well). Also thanks for the recommendation for the Plucky Knitter - Sarah's yarns look stunning and I'll certainly be wielding the old credit card again in her direction!

And why are decorators so set in their ways? That apple shade is just so lovely (and a favourite of mine, the only 'green' that I really like!).

I love the color!

Both are gorgeous, both socks, that is. But your door? Awesome. I love the contrast. It makes me think of New Englanders who have white houses with black shutters and red doors. But I like your contrasting door and better. Good choice!

Hi, I love the door and the patterns. I bought the Anna, but was not able to download it. Please help!
