help?

This simply will not do.
*grumble*

Mohair

The color is right.   The mohair is just what I'm looking for.   I just can't get gauge.   I'm at 19 st/4" in the swatch pictured and it's already too open. Anyone know of a mohair yarn that knits up at 17-18 st/4"?  I need a soft color.  Preferably a blue or blue green.  Oh, and if the price is reasonable, that's even better.
Suggestions?

Check out colour #27 "seafoam". Gauge is 16 with #9 needles.

Also this one:

I don't know where to get that one though.

Yarndex is a good resource :)

I am no help but wanted to say how pretty that is...I hope you get it figured out and on its way soon.

classic elite's le gran mohair is about 16 stitiches, maybe you can play around with that.

Maybe I'm confused, but if you are trying to get fewer stitches per inch, how about smaller needles? Would that work?

Hi Kristin! Its Ravi from The Point. Berhan (the barista from the Point) was moaning about mohair just last night. How it looks so beautiful but can be such a pain to work with. Can't wait to see how you solve the conundrum.

I've been enjoying catching up on your blog. Those hats are gorgeous! And reading of your Swallowtail loss was truly heartrending. Hope to see you again soon and I'll definitely let you know when the blog is up and running. I've gotten all inspired :)

No suggestions either, just wanted to say I'm in love with the color and look of that knitted fabric. So yummy! Bummer it isn't working for what you are doing :(

19 stitches is too open and you want slightly fewer stitches to the inch but a more closed effect on the stitches? Er, have you tried doubling that stuff? Or doing the math on the gauge with a smaller needle, to add in the extra inches/stitches you'd be loosing with smaller needles? The math shouldn't be that difficult to oomph up. e mail me if you want help.

Kirsten,

I'm late in saying so but I'm so sorry about your lost shawl. Did you try looking on Craigs list in the lost and found section? I lost a scarf and someone posted about it there so I know it can work sometimes.

Huge hugs!!!

(I hope you enjoy your candles!!)

Hugs and bunnies,

Wendy Dorrel
