And Wednesday We Knit. . .
I always look forward to Wednesdays. I get to see some of my favorite people. At knitting group things are never dull. The stereo-types about knitters being boring little old ladies couldn't be farther from the truth. The women I knit with every Wednesday are smart and funny and beautiful. They also knit up some pretty cool things.
This is Jennifer with her beautiful quilt. Each year she makes a quilt as a fund raiser for her children's school. The image on the square she is holding up is a quilted design from a drawing done by one of the children who attend the school. Needless to say, the quilt always brings in quite a bit of money for the school.

Here's Bev and her lilac Rowan Cashsoft sweater that she's knitting up for her daughter. Bev is an amazing knitter who is very humble about how good she is. She very quietly whips up lace scarves, and rips out knee-length coats that don't meet her strict standards. Who among us is brave enough to rip out that much work?
Sadly, Lynn can't make it most Wednesdays. Her tennis team matches conflict with our meeting time. She joins us when she can, and today she showed us this scarf that she is making from a hand-dyed cotton ribbon yarn. (That's it at the top of the post.) It is really wonderful, and matched her knitting bag so perfectly!

This is Susan's felted bag. She knit it about a year ago, and forgot about it as she worked on other projects. Recently, she got some velvet ribbon and fabric lining and finished the bag. It is twice as beautiful as it looks in this picture! Susan has a great eye for color and makes some georgous jewelry.
Karen, and her obedient dog Tucker, were our hosts today. Karen has only been knitting for a short time, but is fearless in what she will try.
The scarf she is knitting is striped with a gold & buttery yellow Koigu and some unidentified green yarn for a cool retro effect. Tucker is the most obedient dog I have ever met. He learned well at puppy school!

It was Kelly's idea to start the knitting group. It's been fun to watch it evolve over the past few years. Kelly is starting Ene's Shawl from Scarf Style. She has been working really hard lately, both at her business and training for a half-marathon!
Go Kelly!
Everyone should have a person in their life like Lanny! She makes you laugh so hard that you need Depends, and she is constantly gifting people with the most delicious home baked cookies that you will ever taste. She is currently knitting an enormous bag that will be felted. It is so huge it will still be quite large after it's encounter with the washing machine.
This is the group that makes my Wednesday every week. We were missing a few today, Amy and Christine. I'm looking forward to seeing what they are knitting next week.

I need a manicure.
You should have also mentioned that you made the beautiful stitch markers on my work. At pickup today, I saw a beautiful sweater... then realized it was yours when I saw who was wearing it.
I can't wait for our cashmere ship to come in.
